Chi Kung with Colour

Chi Kung with Colour
by Clara Apollo

CHI KUNG with COLOUR was first brought to my attention during Colourworks training. Here I learned how Colourworks is a system of dual coloured oils and essences which powerfully translate your conscious and sub-conscious thoughts and feelings into words you can relate to, thereby releasing patterns and programming that no longer serve you.
We were investigating one, there are six, of the Elemental essences, and sprayed its olive green Wood spritz onto our hands and breathed the aromatic blend in deeply. This was followed by a meditation to visit ones body elemental pattern, fascinating, during which I felt my right sided liver meridian flash from the inside of my big toe to the liver. I was astonished and rather blown away. What was going on here? With my training as a Chi Kung instructor I have studied Five Element theory, where amongst other aspects, each of the Chinese Five elements of Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal have a colour link. Here was the green Wood of growth, springtime, new beginnings and abundance firing up my liver channel. Extraordinary! I wondered what the other Element essences could do and I knew that I had to study the effects of using these and colours with Chi Kung.

Chi Kung/Qigong energy cultivation exercises can be traced back thousands of years, to an early dance of the Yinkong devised for arthritis prevention and healing. For aeons people have used movement and stillness to heal themselves by encouraging the natural flow of Chi/Qi, universal life force energy, around their bodies. These natural movements have grown into a well researched therapeutic system of healing and part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The use of colour within TCM can be traced back to the Nei Ching, the first documented book of medicine attributed to the Yellow Emperor more than 2000 BC and remains and intrinsic part of Five Element Theory. Each seasonal element is attributed a colour and emotion along with its other associations:

    * Wood spring-green for growth and expressing anger.
    * Fire early-summer red for life-blood and joy.
    * Earth late-summer yellow representing sun and stability.
    * Metal autumn-white for boundaries and compassion.
    * Water winter-black or deep blue for conservation and conquering fears.

Colour is a primeval secret language, its powers documented and used as far back as ancient Egypt to convey conscious and sub-conscious information. Colour helps us to interpret and understand aspects of our multi-faceted world and assists in healing the mind, body and spirit. It is not only our eyes but each body cell that is receptive to colours curative vibrations, they influence the way we think and feel. Its language can be learned to uncover subliminal messages and help us reveal aspects of our inner selves. When used together, Chi Kung with Colour synergise and support each other for a potent healing blend, encouraging a deeper understanding through the heightened physical, psychological and spiritual experiences to bring to light our true potential. To really study the effects of these two venerable systems a series of Colour and Chi Kung one-day workshops were set up with Colourworks trainer Korani. These have grown into the Centre for Colour and Chi Kung...

Through the workshops and the retreat we and our participants have gleaned a myriad of compelling information as Chi Kung with Colour helps us to gain insights as to how and why we behave. Together they can assist us in all our relationships and functioning as part of the ʻwholeʼ. Many of us have trouble with self perception, and have been pushed and pulled in a variety of directions searching to make sense of our existence. Some aspects can become distorted and out of alignment with our truth, often because of how we perceive other peoples opinions, so we try to fit in with a false paradigm. What is going on? Why do so many people feel they have to perform in an unnatural manner in order to be accepted? What is acceptance, why judge? Surely it begins with the acceptance and non-judgement of ourselves... to allow us all the possibility to embrace our true position on this fantastic planet alongside one another.

Colour Chi Kung deeply supports this journey.

Chi is nutritive, healing, universal life force energy, it permeates all living things but can only flow clearly around a tension-less, stress-free body. Chi Kung is one excellent tool for any stress-related disorders, as it gives you methods for its release... Embrace the space around you, feast your eyes in natures green, shake out the old muscle tensions and stasis from sleep in the morning or tensions from the day. Clear the way for colours and chi to support and guide through your daily life. Allow natural creativity to manifest even in the simplest of things and let colour act on your layers of existence. Chi Kung potently energises these layers integrating the colour with chi for total harmony. Colour and chi are both epigenetic influences on the body, ie they are not DNA activated but have an effect on cells and body functions.

Colour is a central aspect to transformation, it is a constant companion on our journeys through life, from our choice of clothing and interior design, to the lure of a potently coloured flower or bliss of a colourful vista. As a continually expressive language, colour integrates along with many other facets of life, blending and weaving its shades throughout our existence, enhancing, informing and amplifying, reflecting and healing. Reminding us of who we really are in the midst of our busy lives. All balanced relationships start with one-self, self-empowerment enables our real potential to surface so we can achieve that which we are here to do, in harmony with each another. This is not just hippy-speak! but an essential challenge as part of our evolution as a species. It is through these thoughts I hypothesize that if more people could access their true selves safely and with candor, the possibility for some of humanityʼs health and enjoyment of life, could greatly increase - with fantastic results! Could Colour Chi Kung assist us in this quest?
